Cars blocking fire hydrants slowed response to fatal Brooklyn fire: FDNY

VIDEO: The FDNY has called out the drivers of two cars parked near fire hydrants, saying they slowed down the agencyโ€™s response to a deadly fire in Brooklyn early Sunday morning. โ€œSeconds count in an emergency. Keeping fire hydrants unobstructed helps firefighters respond quickly,โ€ the FDNY wrote on X. On one of the cars, etched out in snow, appears to be the words โ€œGET OFF HYDRANT.โ€ A 37-year-old man was killed in the fire that broke out in a residential building on 80th Street in Bay Ridge around 3:30 a.m., fire officials said. A 34-year-old woman and a 2-year-old boy were critically injured and taken to NYU Langone Brooklyn, according to the FDNY.
