Arkansas fire department launches e-moto response team for trail emergencies

PHOTO: The Fayetteville Fire Department has introduced a new response team that will use fully electric dirt bikes, or โ€œe-motoโ€ bikes, to navigate emergency situations on the cityโ€™s trail system. With roughly 116 miles of paved and unpaved trails, city officials said the addition of the new team will improve emergency response times for medical incidents, lost hikers and other trail-related emergencies. Fayetteville will be one of the first agencies in the region to deploy electric motorcycles for such purposes, according to a news release. โ€œRecognizing the growing need for efficient emergency response on these trails, whether for large-scale events or everyday incidents, the Fayetteville Fire Department has taken a proactive step to enhance its capabilities,โ€ Capt. John Lovett said. The department has acquired two Beta Explorer e-moto bikes, which are smaller than traditional off-road motorcycles but offer similar performance.
