Alabama firefighter continues to fight fires after suffering serious injury, losing most of his leg

VIDEO: Lt. Jerald Allman, a Birmingham first responder, knows firsthand just how dangerous the job can be. Allman has served with the Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service for over 20 years, and for the last year, he has continued to serve his community as an amputee after being injured on the job. In 2011, he responded to a call where a nail hit his foot. As a diabetic, this incident became quite severe, resulting in the loss of two toes and, eventually, most of his left leg. He began wearing a prosthetic last year and returned to fighting fires and keeping the community safe. Despite everything, he has not lost his sense of humor.
