McAllister Fire in Madison County reaches 3,500 acres with no containment

VIDEO/PHOTOS: The McAllister Fire, burning three miles south of Norris and three miles south of Ennis Lake, has grown to 3,500 acres with no containment at this time. State officials report an evacuation warning is in effect for all residents between Bradley Creek, Shining Mountain West and U.S. Highway 287. A section of Highway 287 is also closed due to the flames. The lightning-caused fire was first reported on Saturday and exhibited explosive growth overnight. Crews were working to build a line around the fire, secure the fire’s perimeter while aviation resources dropped water from above. Resources on the ground include two type two helicopters, one hand crew, two bulldozers, a grader and numerous engines. Officials say the fire’s fuels are primarily open grass and small clumps of trees.
