Knowles Fire sits at more than 1,800 acres in Sanders County

The Knowles Fire is now burning 1,812 acres, 6 miles east of Paradise. The Sanders County Sheriff issued a pre-evacuation notice to those in the McLaughlin area. Officials say closures to the Full Curl Wildlife Management Area and the Lolo National Forest has Road and Area Closures. Air crews have been helping firefighters over the past few days, but with increased fire activity air crews could have a harder time assisting. A temporary flight restriction over the area is also in place. There are 238 firefighters as well as four engines, two hotshot crews, five hand crews, and multiple heavy equipment battling the fire. Firefighters are building direct fire lines when possible, to reduce the fire spreading to residences, the Highway 200 corridor, private infrastructure, and more.
