A man Kansas City firefighters pulled out of a burning house died at a hospital Tuesday morning. According to the Kansas City Fire Department, at about 7:50 a.m., crews were called to the area of East 27th Street and Waldron Avenue — just a few blocks west of Interstate 70 — on reports of a single-story house fire. When crews arrived, they reported finding smoke coming from the home and began using multiple handlines to extinguish the flames.
While searching the property, a man reported to be in his mid-50s was found. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition but was pronounced dead shortly after arriving. His name has not been released. At this time, the Kansas City Police Department’s Bomb and Arson units have been called to the scene to lead the investigation. Dangerous buildings and city planning have also been requested. No other injuries or deaths have been reported, and according to KCFD, the cause of the fire is still unknown.
