An ambulance with the Kansas City Fire Department (KCFD) was involved in a crash on Saturday evening, the fire department shared. According to KCFD, at around 7 p.m., the ambulance was hit by a tractor-trailer on northbound US 169 Highway near Missouri Highway 152 while responding to a call. The ambulance had pulled over behind another vehicle when it was hit.
Following the collision, the tractor-trailer crossed the median and entered the southbound lanes of US 169 Hwy. Additionally, KCFD shared that additional units were called to the scene, including a KCFD hazmat team, to handle the scene and contain a fuel spill on the highway from the truck.
Both northbound and southbound lanes of US 169 Hwy. were closed while KCFD crews are on the scene. Both the truck and ambulance have been towed from the scene. The driver of the tractor-trailer was taken to a hospital in unknown condition. No KCFD personnel were injured, the fire department shared.
