VIDEO: There were at least $800,000 in damages, and several sunken boats after a massive fire on a dock at Wheel House Court in Camden County overnight. The Lake Ozark Fire Protection District says they got the call around 1 a.m. and responded to an engulfed dock, and were able to put the fire out with the help of several other departments.
Reuben Zapata and Tierra Conway saw the flames from their apartment and called 911. โWe were in bed and I heard screaming and I ran to the door and just saw a huge fire,โ Conway said. โI look outside and itโs just completely engulfed in flames, and so the first thing we did, I told her to get the phone and call 911,โ Zapata said.
The two went down to the area to check on those nearby. โWe ran downstairs because we did know that thereโs a couple of families that live out here on family boats. We come out here and fish all the time, so we talked to them. We made sure that they were all right,โ Zapata said. Videos of the fire quickly swarmed social media, and Zapata says theyโve seen plenty of people already helping those impacted.
โThatโs something we were actually talking about this morning is just after posting the video on that Lake area group, seeing just the amount of support and like everybodyโs showing that their condolences for them, for the families and not knowing those people, thatโs a whole, whole thing. I think that the community will definitely pull together to help them out. I hope they do,โ Zapata said.
