Fire destroys Cabool apartment complex, displaces four residents

VIDEO: A fire destroyed an apartment complex in Cabool, Mo., early Tuesday morning, displacing four residents who escaped unharmed. The fire broke out around 2 a.m. in the 2400 block of U.S. 63. The structure was destroyed, and crews found it still burning around noon.

All four people inside the apartments at the time of the fire escaped without injury. Billy Morris, a renter at the complex, said police officers woke him to evacuate the building. โ€œAbout 2 a.m., they pounded on my door,โ€ Morris said. โ€œThe police officer told me to get out. The building was on fire. And when I came outside and got out and got outside, that apartment number 9 there was on fire.โ€

The Red Cross provided victims with vouchers for hotel stays and clothing to replace items lost in the fire. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
