A fire damaged the kitchen in a Jefferson City apartment Thursday afternoon, according to the Jefferson City Fire Department. In a news release from JCFD, the department said crews responded to the apartment on Ventura Boulevard shortly before 5 p.m. They found heavy smoke billowing out of a two-story apartment. One person escaped from the fire and were treated by Cole County EMS. No other injuries were reported out. JCFD said damage was limited to the kitchen area of the Jefferson City apartment. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
