An off-duty firefighter sprang into action on Mother’s Day when a fire broke out at the Excelsior Springs BBQ restaurant where he was dining.
Wabash BBQ said on Facebook that its restaurant sustained moderate damage in a fire Sunday evening. Thankfully, the BBQ restaurant said no employees were injured in the fire. Luckily, a firefighter happened to be eating at the restaurant when the fire broke out.
“A special thanks to a Lathrop firefighter Zach Coldren, that was there enjoying dinner and jumped in action to contain the fire until ESFD got there and took over,” Wabash BBQ said on Facebook. “ESFD is the best! I can’t thank everyone enough for their actions.” The restaurant said it was open on Monday with a limited menu.
