A Waynesville fire truck suffered a blowout on the road on Monday, June 23. According to a Waynesville Rural Fire Protection District social media post, firefighters were heading back from a call around 11:20 a.m. on Interstate 44 near the 156 exit when the fire truckโs tire suffered a blowout.
The fire truck left the roadway and went up the embankment on the road. The truck ran into an exit sign and then stopped on the shoulder of the road. During the impact of the stop sign, the front driverโs windshield shattered and caused major damage to the truck.
The driver of the truck was transported to the hospital with minor injuries, while two other firefighters did not complain of injuries during the incident. The fire protection district says the damage done to the fire truck will be a total loss.
