A basement fire in Mexico, Missouri, left a house with moderate damage Tuesday night, according to a news release from the Mexico Public Safety Department. At around 11:24 p.m., the Public Safety Department responded to the 900 block of Muldrow Street for a house fire, according to the release.
Upon arrival, fire crews found smoke coming from the home and located the fire in a laundry room in the basement. The fire was contained and extinguished in that area, according to the release. The residents of the house were inside and asleep when the fire started and were woken up by their smoke detectors, according to the release.
The area of the fire was left with moderate burn damage, and the house was left with moderate smoke damage. There were no injuries from the incident, according to the release.
