2 children, 1 adult injured in St. Charles fire

VIDEO: A fire that left a 2-year-old fighting for her life Wednesday is under investigation. Shortly before 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, first responders went to a building at the 200 block of Pinedale in St. Charles for a fire in a single-wide trailer. Three people were injured in the fire and taken to an area hospital for treatment.

St. Charles City Fire Department Captain Kelly Hunsel said the mom is the one who called 911. She was outside the home with the 3-year-old when crews arrived on scene and told them her her two-year-old daughter was trapped inside. โ€œWe search regardless but when we have confirmation there is someone trapped, thereโ€™s obviously a sense of urgency there. Crews went in and immediately started searching. Luckily they were able to locate that victim and bring her out,โ€ Captain Hunsel said.

The 2-year-old girl has life-threatening injuries and is in the pediatric ICU at Childrenโ€™s Hospital. โ€œThis patient suffered a number of medical complications. Things you would expect in a fire situation. Weโ€™re gonna be worried about smoke inhalation, burns, things of that nature. The patient was transported in a life threatening condition,โ€ Kyle Gaines with the St. Charles County Ambulance District said.
