Hattiesburg home destroyed in Monday fire, no injuries

Fire destroyed a Hattiesburg home on Monday morning. The Hattiesburg Fire Department received the call for a fire in the 1100 block of Cedar Street around 9:30 a.m. on Monday. Assistant Fire Chief Chris Carr reported that seven trucks responded to the scene. He said it was a larger response than normal because the firefighters were headed to a training when the call came in to 911.

Crews were able to get the fire under control within 30 minutes. However, the home had already sustained extensive damage. Carr said the residents were at home when the fire began, but they were able to escape safely. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
