Smoke could be seen for miles as fire destroyed a south metro home on Memorial Day. The Lakeville Fire Department says fire crews were dispatched to the home on the 21000 block of Ivory Lane around noon. Upon arrival, they found heavy fire in the garage, extending into the home. The fire was so large that the Lakeville Fire Department had to call in help from Farmington. Many neighbors were home because of the holiday. “All of a sudden, my husband I heard a loud boom. And I go, ‘What was that?’ My husband goes, ‘Oh, it must be fireworks. It’s Memorial Day.’ And I said, ‘That didn’t sound like fireworks,’” said Angela Schaefer, whose family lives across the street from the house fire.
