Two Blazes Kept St. Cloud Firefighters Busy

The St. Cloud Fire Department responded to two separate garage fires overnight, keeping crews busy from Saturday evening into early Sunday morning. The first call came in around 10:15 p.m. Saturday at a home in the 200 block of 31st Avenue North.

Firefighters arrived to find flames in an attached garage rapidly spreading through a breezeway toward the main house. Crews launched a quick, coordinated effort to contain the fire and prevent it from consuming the home, which was unfortunately deemed uninhabitable. The Red Cross is helping the family.

Just before 5:00 a.m. Sunday, firefighters were dispatched to East Side Oil Company, where an attached garage bay was fully engulfed in flames. The fire had begun to extend to the roofline, but a quick response once again kept the damage from spreading further. Both fires are under investigation by the Minnesota State Fire Marshal’s Office.
