VIDEO: The city of Maple Grove swore in a new fire chief Monday night. Maple Grove Mayor Mark Steffenson administered the oath of office to Maddison Zikmund, who was appointed to the role in March. Zikmund comes to Maple Grove after previously serving as fire chief for the city of Fridley. The new chief has more than 13 years of firefighting experience, serving as a paid-on-call firefighter for the Spring Lake Park-Blaine-Mounds View Fire Department. Maple Grove had been without a permanent full-time fire chief for months. The city formally parted ways with previous Chief Tim Bush last fall. Zikmund has a masterโs degree in business administration and a bachelorโs degree in organizational leadership and management. He also brings several certifications and licenses related to fire and emergency management.
