Man rescued from grain bin in Wilkin County

The Wilkin County Sheriffโ€™s office rescued a man out of a grain bin after he became trapped in it on July 28. Dispatch received the call a little after noon, reporting a man trapped in a grain bin near Campbell, Minnesota. The man had been stuck for about half an hour before calling for help and was found submerged up to his waist. Officials say he was complaining of leg pain.

Emergency crews from Campbell and Tintah Fire Departments responded, utilizing special grain bin rescue equipment. The man was located in the center of the grain bin alert and conscious. He was successfully extricated by 1:26 P.M. and taken to Essentia Health in Fargo for further medical evaluation. According to initial reports, the man entered the bin to dislodge stuck corn when the grain began to shift and flow more rapidly than he could react. His son shoveled corn away from him until emergency crews responded. This is the third grain bin accident reported in Minnesota this summer.
