PHOTOS: First responders rescued a man after he drove his car into Lake Como on Wednesday afternoon. In a Facebook post, the St. Paul Fire Department says dispatchers received multiple 911 calls just after 2 p.m. reporting that a vehicle drove into Lake Como from Wheelock Parkway.
Fire and EMS crews responded to the scene, along with St. Paul Police and Ramsey County Water Rescue. When crews arrived, they found the vehicle partially submerged in about 3 feet of water. They also discovered a man in the car who appeared to have non-life threatening injuries.
Firefighters used a low angle rope rescue system to get the man out of the vehicle and carried him to shore. He was assessed at the scene and was taken to a local hospital to be treated. His name and identity has not been released. The St. Paul Police Department is investigating the cause of the incident.
