VIDEO: A church is considered a total loss after a fire in Cosmos early Thursday morning. The Meeker County Sheriff’s Office shared in a release that deputies responded to a report of a fire around 1:30 a.m. on the 54900 block of 145th Street.
The fire was called in by a passing motorist after he noticed a glow while driving on Highway 4. The caller checked the area and found the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Cosmos engulfed in flames. Deputies and fire departments from Cosmos, Grove City, Litchfield and Hutchinson raced to the scene but were unable to save the church. No injuries were reported. Investigators from the Minnesota Fire Marshal’s office and local investigators are on scene attempting to determine the cause of the fire.
