Fire destroys multiple buildings at Scott County renaissance fair grounds

VIDEO/PHOTO: Multiple fire crews responded to the Minnesota Renaissance Fair as multiple buildings on the site have been destroyed. SKY 11 captured the scene from above, which shows the buildings burned to the ground. Five connected wood structures, containing 12 store fronts, were burned down, according to Shakopee Fire Department Deputy Chief Joe Simon. The Shakopee Fire Department said crews were dispatched at about 6 p.m. Thursday, adding the fire was hard to contain due to a lack of water supply in the area. About 12 fire departments responded to the festival grounds. Officials said the fire was mostly extinguished by 8 p.m. No injuries were reported. The tate fire marshal will take over the investigation and no cause has yet been determined, added Simon. This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
