Multiple fire departments responded to a fire in Britt Friday morning. According to the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, a passerby reported seeing flames coming from a building on Britt Bypass off of Highway 53.
Agencies responded shortly after 4:30 a.m. The fire engulfed the former El-Roy Supper Club, which has been renovated into a residence and was occupied at the time of the fire. The sheriff’s office said the passerby honked their car horn to alert the residents about the fire. A man and woman were able to evacuate safely. No injuries have been reported. Multiple fire departments responded to the fire. The American Red Cross has been contacted to help those displaced. The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office and Minnesota State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
