According to Friends of the Northland FireWire, a fire over the weekend resulted in major damages to the LSC Environmental Products Facility near Floodwood. Firefighters were dispatched around 10:30 p.m. on Friday night where they encountered an 18,000-gallon propane tank with 40-foot flames.
The fire destroyed a shed and was making its way to the main facility. That fire was extinguished on Saturday morning. Before noon on Saturday, crews were once again dispatched to the plant, which was engulfed in flames and heavy smoke, and the roof of the plant collapsed. Crews were called back out once again on Sunday afternoon after a column of black smoke was seen. The Floodwood Ambulance Service provided medical standby on scene.
