Duluth Resident’s Quick Response Averts Disaster in $15,000 Cooking Fire Incident

A cooking debacle nearly turned disastrous at a residence in Duluth Tuesday evening. Around 5:58 PM, local fire crews rushed to quell a structure fire reported on the 2800 block of Wellington Street.

The incident was a contained cooking fire, fortunately already extinguished by the quick-thinking resident by the time responders arrived. The Duluth Fire Department coordinated with Downtown, Lincoln Park, and Spirit Valley units, managing to ensure public safety with the help of the Duluth Police Department, who aided in the residents’ evacuation. As per the information obtained from the Duluth Fire Department’s statement, their integrated efforts resulted in a swift response, ensuring no injuries were sustained during the incident.

Despite the resident’s efforts to handle the situation, the fire inflicted an estimated $15,000 in damage. However, the impact could have been considerably more severe if not for the resident’s prompt reaction and the department’s collaborative action. In the aftermath of the event, the Duluth Fire Department extended gratitude towards St. Louis County Emergency Services/911 dispatch and the Duluth Police Department. Their partnership and rapid assistance played a crucial role in efficiently mitigating the situation.
