Chanhassen Fire Department Launches AED Reservation Program to Boost Safety at Community Events

The Chanhassen Fire Department in Minnesota has introduced a new initiative allowing residents to reserve portable Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) for community events. Announced in a social media post on October 4, 2025, the program aims to improve emergency preparedness at large gatherings such as sporting events, family reunions, and picnics, where immediate access to lifesaving equipment can be critical.

According to the Chanhassen Fire Departmentโ€™s announcement, the program enables residents to borrow an AED for occasions where medical emergencies could occur and a quick response time is essential. โ€œResidents can now reserve a portable AED to bring along to their sporting event, family reunion, picnic, or any gathering where access to an AED may otherwise be a concern,โ€ the department stated.

The initiative is supported through a grant from the Minnesota Valley Electric Cooperative, providing the financial foundation for the fire department to expand its life-saving resources beyond its stations. This partnership underscores a shared commitment to improving community safety and empowering residents to act during medical emergencies.
