PHOTOS: Video shared with News 8 shows two people jumping from a window during an early morning house fire on Grand Rapidsโ northeast side.
One of the people who jumped from the home described a โfranticโ scene. โI didnโt even know what to think. I didnโt have anything in my brain besides, โGet out.’โ Jacob Burns told News 8. โOnce I got there, everything was just kind of tunnel vision kind of thing.โ
The fire broke out around 1 a.m. Thursday in the area of Ashland Avenue NE and Curtis Street NE. Burns told News 8 he woke up to his roommate yelling that the house was on fire.
โI woke up, inhaled a whole bunch of smoke, couldnโt see anything,โ he recounted to News 8 late Thursday morning. โThatโs when I went to the window and opened it up and I was telling him to come to my room and he said he was already outside. So I jumped from there down to the ground.โ
Surveillance footage from a neighbor who asked to be identified only as Rachel shows the escape.
