No one got hurt after a fire broke out at a home in Battle Creek on Monday, according to the Battle Creek Fire Department. Firefighters were called to a home on Rittenhouse Avenue, between Caroline Street and Capital Avenue SW, for the fire at 11 a.m. Arriving three minutes later, firefighters saw smoke coming from the back of the home, and found the fire burning on the second floor. It was put out quickly with a handline, firefighters said. As of Monday afternoon, the fire is believed to have caused $12,000 worth of property damage, along with $2,500 in contents damage, according to the fire department. However, the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
