The Owosso Fire Department has welcomed a new engine to their fleet. The new vehicle is 2025 HME Core-Top Mount Pumper, which features a 1,000-gallon water tank and a 1,500 GPM pump. The department said it was specifically built and designed with the input of firefighters to meet the specific needs of the community. The new engine is replacing a 1997 Pierce pumper truck that has reached the end of its service life. The acquisition of the fire apparatus was assisted by the USDA Rural Development Community Facilities Direct Loan and Grant Program. The program provides grants to assist in the development of community facilities in rural areas and towns up to 20,000 population.
