VIDEO/PHOTOS: A mid-Michigan police officer rushed into a burning home to rescue a disabled woman trapped inside. The Tri-Township Fire Department said they responded to a fire at a home on the 13000 Hanchett Road in St. Charles Township on Sunday, Nov. 2.
The victim’s family had tried to get the woman to safety, but couldn’t reach her. Without hesitation, firefighters said St. Charles patrolman Ryan Hull ran into the house, found the woman and pulled her outside to safety, then treated her with first aid.
“I feel like I did my job,” said Hull. “I did what any first responder would’ve done.” The woman has physical limitations, and could not get out on her own.
“I ran up, the family had her to the front door, I told them to move, I grabbed ahold of her and I just pulled with everything I had until I got her safely out,” said Hull. “Moments later, obviously the whole house went up.”
The Tri-Township Fire District made a Facebook post pointing out that Hull made the rescue. It has almost 500 likes and dozens of comments.
