No one was hurt after a garage fire in Battle Creek, according to the Battle Creek Fire Department (BCFD). Firefighters and paramedics with LifeCare Ambulance were called to a fire in a vacant “commercial structure” on Upton Avenue, between South Washington Avenue and Renewal Court, just before 10 a.m. Sunday. When they arrived, firefighters found black smoke coming from a detached garage.
It was brought under control within 20 minutes, and nobody was injured, firefighters said. As of Monday, the cause of the fire remains under investigation by BCFD’s Fire Marshal’s Office, according to the department.
