Keep an eye out for an increased presence of law enforcement at the Marquette Municipal Service Center on Friday, Sept. 26; local first responders will be participating in hazmat workshop. The two-day workshop is hosted by the Michigan State Police (MSP) Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division’s (EMHSD) Hazardous Materials Training Unit. A total of 15 first responders will receive hands-on training tailored to safely responding to hazardous material incidents. They will focus on minimizing health and environmental hazards from the spill or release in question, as well as safely mitigating and cleaning up the incident site.
