VIDEO: Fire investigators from across Michigan gathered in Bay City for hands-on training organized by the International Association of Arson Investigators. The training provided live burn scenarios and investigation exercises, aiming to help both public and private investigators enhance their skills.
“This is critical training for arson investigators to determine the cause of origin,” Lt. Kim Vetter of the Michigan State Police said. “It can help the criminal aspect, and insurance companies as well try and give restitution for those who deserve it.” Organizers emphasized the necessity of staying current on techniques used to determine the origin and cause of suspicious fires. The training serves as a crucial opportunity for investigators to refine their abilities and ensure accurate fire investigations throughout Michigan.
