Former Bear Lake Township fire chief awarded for 31 years of service

PHOTOS: Former Bear Lake Township Fire Department Chief Sean Adams was awarded an honorary placard at the March Manistee County Fire Fighters Association meeting for his 31 years of service. Adams retired in January after 13 years as chief and was succeeded by Jeff Kamaloski as the new fire chief. “Sean, you’re not the type of person that’s gone unnoticed and we want to thank you for all the hours that you’ve given to not only the association but the county as a whole (and to) the Bear Lake Fire Department,” Kamaloski said. Kamaloski presented the placard to Adams. “He’s worked tremendous hours, really getting the department organized, really getting us equipment in his plans. (He) really put us in a really good spot,” Kamaloski said.

Kamaloski referenced Adams’ time as a member of the Manistee County 911 Board as well as his role with the firefighters association. Both roles allowed Adams to bridge communications between area fire departments and other first response leaders. “When he was working with the Manistee County Fire Fighters Association, he gave us a lot of input, worked on the 911 board, (he’s) given us a voice in our communication system and (worked) on a bunch of projects throughout the fire fighters association,” Kamaloski said. Adams added that he plans to work with Bear Lake Township in pursuing a new fire department and township hall building.
