One person was rescued and taken to the hospital after a house fire early Tuesday morning in Otsego, according to the Otsego Fire Department. Firefighters arrived to a home on South Grant Street near West Allegan Street just after midnight where thick smoke could be seen coming out of an upstairs window, authorities said. Firefighters and police said they used a ladder from the unattached garage to get to a 49-year-old woman who was trapped on the second floor of the residence. Assistant Fire Chief Bush reached out to the woman from the roof of the garage in an effort to pull her from the window, however, authorities said she was not able to grab the garage roof and fell to the ground between the two structures. Responders then immediately brought the woman to safety and provided medical attention before she was taken to Bronson Hospital where her condition is being monitored, firefighters said.
