Corn roast raises funds for Inwood Township FD, EMS

VIDEO: The 53rd annual Cooks Corn Roast drew in crowds on Sunday for all-you-can-eat corn for $5. The event was a fundraiser for Inwood Township Fire and EMS. Chicken, available with the purchase of a ticket, sold out in under two hours. An auction and raffle also helped raise funds for the volunteer department.

Joanne Annelin has been a part of Inwood Township Fire and EMS for as long as the department has existed. She says the corn roast has been around since the beginning. “It started out as the workers’ party,” Annelin said. “Then everyone seen us. ‘Can we join you?’ So they joined us and from then on, open to the public.” The fundraiser has grown since its inception, with an estimated 3,000 people expected to attend throughout the day on Sunday. All proceeds go to support Inwood Township Fire and EMS.
