VIDEO/PHOTOS: Crews responded early Wednesday morning to a house fire near Sparta. The fire broke out around 2:15 a.m. on La Pan NE near Camp Lake in Algoma Township.
Algoma Township Fire Chief Troy Guerra told News 8 that a family of three lives at the home. The residents made it out of the house safely, but several pets died, he said. For about two hours, crews couldnโt access the fire due to a gas leak, according to Guerra. Utility crews from DTE arrived on scene and shut off the gas, allowing firefighters to put out the blaze. There were no other complications. Investigators havenโt yet determined what caused the fire, Guerra told News 8. Firefighters from Sparta, Alpine Township and Solon Township also responded to the scene.
