VIDEO: A man died after being pulled from a burning Detroit home late Tuesday, while a firefighter was injured in a floor collapse. Firefighters responded to the home in the 10200 block of McQuade near Dexter just after 11:30 p.m. When they arrived, they saw flames coming from the home and entered the house.
A man found inside the house was taken to Henry Ford Hospital, where he died. The McQuade Street house, which looks like a duplex, is a total loss. The resident, estimated to be in his 60s, died of smoke inhalation. The fire began at 11:30 p.m. and the Detroit Fire Department arrived within four minutes and said that upon arriving, smoke was billowing out of the home. The cause is still under investigation. The firefighter, who was hospitalized, is expected to recover.
