New surveillance video shows a car slamming into the new Lynnfield Fire Department headquarters on Thursday afternoon. The crash occurred at approximately 2 p.m.
Surveillance video shows the vehicle backing over an elevated curb and quickly reversing into the left, northeast corner of the Summer St. building.
Town Administrator Robert Dolan says the collision caused “significant damage” to both the exterior and interior of the station.
It’s unclear if anyone was injured in the crash or if the building was occupied at the time. Town officials, contractors, and the building inspector are working with a private structural engineer to assess the damage, according to the town administrator’s office.
