Woman found dead after fire in Easton home

VIDEO: A woman was found dead after a fire at a home on North Main Street in Easton Thursday night.

Easton Fire Chief Justin Alexander said crews were originally called to the home after receiving a medical alert.

โ€œEn route, we were told it was most likely a false alarm,โ€ Alexander explained. โ€œUpon arrival, we found a structure fire. It was not called in that way, but our companies jumped into action.โ€

There was heavy fire throughout the home. Alexander noted that crews were able to get the fire under control within roughly two hours.

Massachusetts State Fire Marshal Jon Davine was at the scene and shared more about the ongoing investigation.

โ€œ[Investigators] are just getting in there now, so we donโ€™t have a cause yet,โ€ Davine said.

The victim was the only person in the home at the time of the fire. No firefighters were hurt.
