VIDEO: The Springfield Fire Department worked to put out a fire on Euclid Avenue on Tuesday. Springfield Fire Captain Drew Piemonte said that no injuries were reported after the fire at 58 Euclid Avenue. Eight people have been left without a home and are being assisted by the Red Cross. Two dogs and one cat were rescued, however another cat died in the fire. The Thomas J O’Connor Animal Control & Adoption Center is assisting with the animals. It was determined that the fire started in the basement. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Springfield Arson and Bomb Squad. Euclid Avenue was blocked off from Belmont Ave to Dickinson Street, but has since reopened.
