Driver suffers life-threatening injuries in Brockton crash involving boom truck

VIDEO: A 20-year-old man was seriously injured Thursday in a crash that shut down a road in a busy section of Brockton, Massachusetts. An SUV and a boom truck were involved in the crash just after 9 a.m. on Pearl Street. The road was closed to traffic between West Chestnut and Belmont streets.The driver of the boom truck said he was traveling northbound on Pearl Street when the SUV that was traveling southbound tried to get around a vehicle, and the vehicle crashed head-on into the truck. An off-duty Avon firefighter who was in the area administered CPR to the driver, who suffered life-threatening injuries. The victim, whose name has not been released, was taken to a Boston hospital, police said.
