PHOTOS: Crews worked together to put out a fire in a storage box at the Department of Public Works (DPW) building in Westfield on Tuesday. Westfield Fire Department Deputy Chief Eric Bishop said that crews received a report of a fire at approximately 3:48 pm. on Tuesday at the DPW building on 28 Sackett Street. Firefighters arrived at the location and found that the fire started in a storage box where various solvents, plastics, and hay for erosion control were held. Deputy Chief Bishop said that the flames were quickly brought under control. No injuries were reported, and no other buildings or DPW trucks in the area were damaged. The cause of the fire is currently being investigated by the Westfield Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police.
