Montgomery County residents safely escape house fire

PHOTOS: Two people escaped safely after a Montgomery County house fire that broke out early Wednesday morning, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesperson Pete Piringer.

Crews responded to Starlight Court off Falls Mead Way and found heavy fire conditions with a large column of smoke visible from a distance.

Piringer said a smoke alarm alerted two residents, and they escaped safely with two dogs before the crews arrived. A cat remains unaccounted for.

About 65 firefighters responded to the scene. The fire is now under control, and no injuries were reported

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
