Fire in South Baltimore under investigation

A fire that broke out shortly after 7 a.m. Thursday in South Baltimore is under investigation, according to Baltimore Fire officials.

The Baltimore City Fire Department responded to the 2100 block of Wilkins Ave for reports of a dwelling fire and found heavy smoke and flames upon arrival.

The incident escalated to a working fire, requiring additional support apparatus.

Officials say the fire is now under control, and the displaced victims, whose number is currently unknown, are being assisted by the Department of Housing and Community Development Neighborhood Services.

No injuries have been reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
