Firefighters worked quickly to extinguish a garage fire at a repair shop in Hyattsville Monday night. Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the fire.
Fire crews were called to an AAMCO repair shop, next to a gas station, for a report of a commercial building fire around 8:45 p.m.
When firefighters arrived on scene they found smoke and flames coming from the garage area of the building. A vehicle was on fire inside the garage.
Spokesperson Mike Yourishin said the flames spread to another car in the garage before crews were able to get them under control.
The blaze damaged the two vehicles inside and caused smoke damage to the building, according to Yourishin. A shop employee experienced a minor burn, but was not taken to the hospital. No other injuries were reported.
Firefighters did not have an estimate for the cost of damage to the shop, or the two cars. The case remains open and under investigation.
