Baltimore City Fire intends to “implement a cutting-edge drone program” as part of efforts to enhance departmental capabilities, according to a release.
The stated goals of the initiative are to “enhance emergency response operations, incident management, and overall public safety efforts.”
The drones will be mainly used to provide additional aerial perspectives in fire prevention and inspection activities as well as search and rescue missions and hazardous situations.
A public comment period will be held for 30 days to allow members of the community and other stakeholders to ask questions and share their thoughts on the drone program’s implementation.
