VIDEO: First responders rushed to the scene of a barn fire on the town line between Harrison and Naples Thursday. Naples Fire Chief Justin Cox said crews were dispatched to 599 Harrison Road after receiving an initial call about a vehicle fire, which was quickly followed by reports that the fire had spread to the barn. By the time firefighters arrived, the entire building was engulfed in flames. Passersby managed to rescue two or three horses from the back of the barn. Fortunately, no people or horses were injured in the incident.
Chief Cox expressed concerns about the ongoing drought in Maine, stating, “It’s been all over the news, Maine is in a drought. All of our fire ponds are dry. We’re going all the way back to Long Lake to get water.” The region has been experiencing increased fire risks due to the drought, and updates will continue to be provided.
