Crews in Dexter responded to a garage fire off Charleston Road around 2:30 p.m. Monday. Firefighters said the homeowner was burning debris next to the garage when the two-car structure went up in flames. Dexter Fire received backup from nearby departments to keep the fire from spreading.
Deputy Fire Chief Rick Stocker said no one was hurt. โWe encountered the shed was fully involved, and we had a challenge to get into these narrow driveways, but we were able to get in and make a quick attack on the fire and knock it down,โ Stocker said. โSo it is very dry. I encourage people not to burn of any type.โ Stocker also reminded residents that despite Fridayโs showers, most of the state remains at high risk of wildfire.
