VIDEO: Following the deadly plane crash at Bangor International Airport, Pet Partners of Eastern Maine has been visiting first responders in the area.

The home billowed with smoke as Lewiston, Sabattus, Durham, and Topsham crews were requested for mutual aid to fight the three-structure fire.

It’s a sobering reminder of the unpredictability of fire; five separate incidents left families in need and first responders challenged.

During a select board meeting in Corinth Thursday, the town was introduced to the new fire chief. Residents filled the seats, eager to hear the fire chief’s report.

When firefighters arrived on scene they found heavy fire on the backside of the house and heavy smoke conditions in the front.

After many wildfires last season, local officials are taking proactive steps now to help residents protect their properties before wildfire season even begins.

Crews were met with heavy smoke in a third-floor room, but they were able to extinguish the fire quickly.

VIDEO: The fire involved the 630-foot bulk carrier Asteras, which was anchored in a designated federal anchorage for large ships, according to Portland Harbor Master Paul Plummer.

The Bangor International Airport remained closed after a private jet crashed at Maine’s second-largest airport.

The new center was around $24 million to build, which came from COVID relief funds, congressional and county funds and grants.

When firefighters arrived, they found a woman who suffered life-threatening injuries. She was airlifted to Maine Medical Center in Portland.
